Carol A (Sletterink) Sandberg passed away on December 4th, 2025. She was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts to the late Marjorie (Hovey) and Allan Sletterink.
She was a lifelong resident of Reading where she and her ex-husband proudly raised their three sons. Over her lifetime, she volunteered for community organizations such as the Ipswich River Watershed Association, RMHS Band Parents Organization, Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, and Ironstone Farm. She worked for 20+ years in the Reading Public School system and loved every minute of it. Carol enjoyed the outdoors and animals and outdoor animals. This was reflected in her gardens, birdwatching, her pets, her knowledge of nature, and her love of hiking. She also spent many hours researching and documenting her family’s genealogy. Carol devoted her life to her family (and dog Tovi) and will be remembered as a strong woman by all. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons Riley and Adam of Reading, Joel of Boston, her brothers Glenn (Lisa) of Wakefield and Roy (Patti) of Reading, Gramma’s Girls, her Barrows family, her loving neighbors, her pets Tovi and Nikolai, her besties, and friends and extended family.
A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Thursday December 11, 2025 from 4pm-7pm. Her funeral service and burial will be private.
