Endorsements from Progressive Mass and other key groups show McDonald is the clear progressive choice
MALDEN, MA – State Senate candidate Carey McDonald has consolidated the support of progressive organizations in the race for the open 5th Middlesex seat, as the campaign enters its final month before the Democratic primary. Today’s week’s announcement that Progressive Mass is endorsing McDonald is a major milestone; the state’s premier statewide grassroots progressive organization selects endorsements through direct votes of its members. In the past week, McDonald has announced a slate of endorsements from leading progressive groups, climate activists, and progressive unions, including:

These endorsements build on McDonald’s already strong support from unions, progressive organizations and environmental groups. They are also one of three state senate candidates endorsed by the Working Families Party, who has successfully backed progressive candidates across multiple states in Democratic primaries. McDonald has signed Every District Accountable pledge for good government and transparency from Act On Mass, and the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge; and has also committed to supporting Medicare for All with the Mass Care Campaign.
Carey McDonald is a three-term Malden city councillor and Finance committee chair, a nonprofit executive, and working parent. Carey is running for the State Senate in the 5th Middlesex to take on Beacon Hill’s lack of urgency, and to fight for the opportunities our communities need. They support transparency, public records and open meetings for the legislature, and the voter-approved legislative audit. Carey’s priorities are to fund our schools and communities by reforming school funding and fixing the local budget crisis across the state; make life more affordable through utility bills, housing and childcare; and fight the Trump administration’s attacks on our rights, our neighbors and our economy.
