Dear Editor:

We are writing to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who joined us at Ultra Chic at the Hillview Country Club on Saturday, November 18 for the 16th annual Reading Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner. Thanks to the generous financial support of our sponsors who helped underwrite the event, the dinner is free and open to all senior citizens from Reading.

This year’s dinner provided an opportunity to gather indoors with hundreds of our friends and neighbors to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. Guests enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings while being entertained throughout the afternoon with music and dancing courtesy of DJ Alan LaBella.

As in years past, we encouraged those attending the dinner to bring canned goods and other food donations to help fill the shelves at the Reading Food Pantry. We are truly grateful for the overwhelming response we received for our annual solicitation of food donations. Thanks to the generosity of those who attended the dinner, the food pantry will be able to assist more local families in need during the holiday season.

Joining us at the head table were members of the Reading Select Board, including Chair Jackie McCarthy, Vice Chair Mark Dockser and his wife Linda, Karen Gately Herrick, and Christopher Haley, along with Town Manager Fidel Maltez. Pleasant Street Senior Center Coordinator Chris Kowaleski was also in attendance with members of his staff.

We would like to thank The Savings Bank, The Reading Cooperative Bank and Amazon for their financial support, as well as Harrows Chicken Pies. We would also like to thank our generous donors who provided beautiful holiday gifts to be raffled, including Ultra Chic Events at Hillview Country Club, Elite Auto Tech of Wakefield, the Meola family, the Quintiliani family, and the Chankhour family.

A special thank you to Fabiana and Adilson Santos and the team at Ultra Chic at the Hillview Country Club for working with us to make this event another truly memorable one. We appreciate Ultra Chic Events’ commitment to providing exceptional food, service and hospitality.

It is truly an honor for us to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with those who have contributed so much to our community over the years. We want to take this opportunity to extend our best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season to all Reading residents, and we look forward to seeing everyone again at next year’s dinner.

Sincerely,
