Storytime Every Day at the Reading Public Library for Fall

Reading, MA— This fall, there are some exciting changes to the Reading Public Library’s storytime schedule. Beginning in September, early literacy programming will occur every day of the week!

Several factors led to this significant redesign. First, library staff noticed the community now engages differently with programs since the resumption of regular storytimes in 2022. We also heard from caregivers and considered recent survey results (thank you for responding!) as well as how other libraries schedule their storytimes.

Our weekly storytimes will now require registration. Advance registration helps build a strong community through a more structured environment and a guaranteed routine. Families will know for certain that they are able to attend their session when they visit. In addition, smaller group sizes for these storytimes will lead to more inclusive environments for our young friends who may be overwhelmed by large crowds, which is what we were seeing previously. We want you to enjoy your time with us and build up those early literacy skills in a fun and relaxing way. Registration opens on Tuesday, August 29.

As some caregivers cannot make it to the library on weekdays this fall, Jumping Beans Family Storytime will be held every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. No registration is necessary, just bring your dancing shoes and upbeat energy. And that’s not all! We will have exciting programs for elementary ages. And we often have seasonal or specialized storytimes sprinkled throughout the year. Make sure to check our online calendar. We hope to see you at the library this fall, and we hope to see you at one of these storytimes! Fall Storytimes at the Reading Public Library
