The Reading Fire Department celebrated four promotions and two new hires with a badge pinning ceremony held during the September 6 meeting of the Board of Selectmen at Reading Town Hall.

Promotions were recognized first.  Being promoted were Assistant Chief Paul Jackson, Captain Mark Dwyer, Captain Richard Nelson and Lieutenant Anthony DelSignore. Fire Chief Greg Burns presented each officer along with highlights of their education and careers in the department. Afterward, a member of the officer’s families came forward to perform the actual badge pinning, to the applause of the crowded Selectmen’s Meeting Room. Each officer was congratulated by Town Manager Robert LeLacheur and by the members of the Board.

Burns then introduced Eric Beaulieu and Brian Roche as the two newest members of the Fire Department before each had their badges pinned on as well. Both were welcomed to Reading by the members of the Board.

The proceedings ended as it started with the playing of bagpipes as the firefighters and their families exited the room.
