Public hearing for ‘Reading Village’ 40B project continues tonight

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will hold a continuation of a public hearing, Thursday, July 21 at 7:00 PM, in the Great Room located at Pleasant Street Senior Center. Applicant MKM Reading, LLC has submitted a request for a Comprehensive Permit for a proposed 77 unit rental property called “Reading Village”. The applicants for the 40B project located at 39-41 Lincoln Street and 2-12 Prescott Street submitted an application for site eligibility to MassHousing.

Reading VillageTonight’s meeting will be the sixth time the ZBA has met to discussion the ‘Reading Village’ project.  It will be the first hearing following the submission of of a revised project presentation to the board on June 28.  The updated presentation now includes dimensions on the ground floor plan, additional building elevations, and a revised shadow study.  The updated presentation is available on the Reading Town Government web site here.

The initial application for the 40B project was submitted to MassHousing by Geoffrey Engler, a consultant to MKM Reading, LLC in April 2015.  The project was determined eligible for 40B  by MassHousing on August 17, 2015 with formal notification of the determination sent to MKM Reading, LLC Manager, Ken Chase of Brighton.  MassHousing’s site approval limited the development to no more than 77 rental units, with no fewer than 20 units being earmarked as affordable housing.  MKM Reading, LLC later submitted a permit application to the ZBA on January 7, 2016 followed by the project’s first public hearing which was held on February 4, 2016.
