June 11, 1960  –  January 24, 2025

Christopher D. Loschi, 64, of East Granby, beloved husband for 36 years, of Margaret Ann “Marge” (Hart) Loschi, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2025, after a long battle with ALS. Born in Cambridge, MA on June 11, 1960, son of Barbara Ann (Donovan) Loschi of Peabody, MA and the late Dr. Edwin Joseph Loschi, DDS, he was raised in Reading, MA and was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School, Class of 1978. After high school, Chris continued his education at University of Lowell in Lowell, MA, where he majored in mechanical engineering and graduated with the Class of 1982.

While attending the University of Lowell, he met Marge Hart and the couple started dating. They moved to Connecticut and in 1985 bought a home in East Granby where they have lived for almost 40 years. Chris and Marge were married in 1988, at St. Peter’s Church in Dorchester, MA.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Chris took a position at Hamilton Standard as a design engineer in Windsor Locks. While working as an engineer, Chris earned a Masters in Engineering Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 2001, he decided to change careers and returned to school at Western New England College where he earned a Masters in Mathematics and his teaching certification.

Chris started his teaching career at Conard High School in West Hartford and later taught at Farmington High School before taking a position at Windsor High School where he was a mathematics teacher for almost 14 years. While at Windsor High, Chris taught in the learning lab and enjoyed working with kids that needed extra help and support in math. Dedicated to lifelong learning himself, Chris returned to school at night at Central Connecticut State University where he earned his sixth-year certificate. Chris loved being a part of the Windsor High community and cheering on the Warriors, especially the boy’s basketball team. He served for many years as the teacher/advisor for the outdoors club and was dedicated to the many students he taught over the years.

As a young man, Chris developed a passion for sailing, a hobby that continued throughout his life and that he would pass down to his children. His introduction to sailing started at Community Boating on the Charles River. Chris loved the sport and bought his first sailboat in high school. In their young lives, Chris and Marge enjoyed sailing off the Connecticut shore in Westbrook and later near their home on Cape Cod. They took their daughters on many memorable trips including a sailing vacation that Chris captained in the British Virgin Islands.

Chris was an avid skier and hiker, loved visiting the National Parks, and going on road trips with his wife and daughters. He also enjoyed watching the UConn Women’s Basketball games and cheering on the Huskies. Most of all, Chris was a loving husband and father who enjoyed a good laugh and spending time with family.

In addition to his loving wife Marge and his mother, Barbara, he leaves two daughters, Mairead C. Loschi of Somerville, MA and Fiona H. Loschi of East Granby; two brothers, Edwin J. Loschi, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL and Thomas P. Loschi of Miami, FL; a sister, Barbara A. Daley and her husband Mark of Reading, MA; three nieces and a nephew, Carla Haraska of Lexington, KY and Kathryn, Meghan, and Andrew Daley all of Reading, MA.
