New youth theatre program, music lessons, art classes, and the 4th Annual PumpkinFest offer opportunities for all ages in Reading.
Reading, MA — Founded in 1978, Creative Arts kicks off its 48th year with art classes, its new youth theatre program, and its 4th Annual PumpkinFest.
New art classes are starting this month for children and adults: Drawing & Painting, Color Explosion, Halloween Costume Making, Stage Makeup & Special Effects, Children’s Arts Crafts & Sewing, Life Drawing Open Studio, Intro to Exploring Color Theory, Fall Art Workshop, and Mixed Media 3-D Art.
“Little Twinkles Violin Studio” is a beginner violin class for children ages four to six, starting at the end of September on Wednesday afternoons.
Starting in October, a new theatre program, also starting this fall, is the “Creative Arts Youth Theatre (CAYT) offering on-stage production experiences and behind-the-scenes workshops. CAYT will present “Elf, Jr.”, the musical, in November.
Private music classes are ongoing, but it is never too late to sign up for lessons in piano, guitar, violin, voice, flute, trumpet, trombone, cello, ukulele, and more.

Creative Arts is celebrating its 4th Annual PumpkinFest Family Festival and Fundraiser on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 5:00-7:00 pm. Come join the Halloween-themed fun with games, activities, food, live music & performances, DJ Jazzy Jacob, face painting, a cartoonist, a balloon artist, pumpkin painting, a Halloween costume contest, vendors, and our ever-popular Jack-o’-lantern Pumpkin Patch on Sanborn Street. Our Pumpkinfest Raffle will feature baskets and gifts. We are still finalizing, but last year’s prizes included Boston Celtics tickets, Whitelam Books, the Umbrella Stage Company theater tickets, The Chocolate Truffle, Cupcake City, Everything But The Dog, and more! Vendors who would like to participate can contact our office — tables free of charge!
Creative Arts is located between Lowell Street (Route 129) and Sanborn Street (one-way) in Reading, MA. We share our building with the First Congregational Church of Reading at 25 Woburn Street. We also share the municipal parking lot with town hall on Lowell Street. All are welcome!

Located in Reading town center since 1978, Creative Arts is a non-profit arts school that offers private and group lessons in theater, music, and art for all ages and all abilities year-round. We always have vacation week programs in December, February, and April, and our 10-week Summer Programs.
Our main entrance is at 32 Lowell Street / Route 129, behind Reading Town Hall, and has a free parking lot. Our other entrance is located near 48 Sanborn St., where street parking is available. Our building is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Handicap parking is available at both of these entrances.
