Reading Cooperative Charitable Foundation Makes Donation to Reading Pickleball Players Association

The donation will be used to purchase two eight-foot double benches for the pavilion area at the new pickleball courts

Reading, MA – Reading Pickleball Players Association (RPPA) President Judy Coltman announced today that the Reading Cooperative Charitable Foundation has approved RPPA’s grant application in the amount of $3,500. The much-needed money will be used to purchase two eight-foot, double-sided benches for the new pickleball complex. These benches will be installed in the pavilion area of the courts for players to use between games.

The new courts, consisting of 7 lighted courts, including an ADA accessible one, are being built next to the Burbank Ice Arena on Symonds Way, just across from the new Reading Center for Active Living (RECAL).

Statement of Judy Coltman, President of the RPPA:

“We are so pleased that the Reading Cooperative Charitable Foundation chose our application as worthy of their donation. These new benches – which will be recognized with a plaque indicating the Foundation’s support – are crucial to the enjoyment of the courts. The grant also highlights the Foundation’s commitment to the Reading community. On behalf of the RPPA and all the pickleball players, I want to thank the Reading Cooperative Charitable Foundation for their generosity.”

In a letter to the RPPA announcing the grant, Shanna Cahalane, Chief Communications & Community Strategy Officer for the Foundation, stated:

This project is a remarkable example of what can be accomplished when dedicated community members come together with a shared vision and commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Reading. The passion, perseverance, and volunteer effort that have brought this project to fruition are truly impressive.” Shanna further added, “We look forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have on the Reading community.”

The new courts are in the final stages of construction and are expected to be available for play sometime in October.
