Join Reading Public Library for Fall Programs and Events

Starting September 1

Reading Public Library, Reading, MA — Fall is just around the corner, and the Reading Public Library welcomes it with a variety of programs and services for everyone. We have some exciting new developments to share as well.

If you’ve enjoyed our outdoor events on the lawn, don’t miss the season’s last outdoor concert on Tuesday, September 20, with Eastern Medicine Singers. Bring a blanket or chair and a picnic dinner, and join us for an evening of music on the lawn.

Have you found one of our Community Reads books in the wild? Virtual discussions are happening now, and in-person discussions begin on September 15. Don’t wait, the Community Read runs until October 8.

Tweens and Teens ages 10-15 and their caregivers are invited to attend What We Talk About When We Talk to Our Bodies: Language, Body Love, and Yoga with Rachel Estapa on Thursday, September 15. What do body positivity and body acceptance mean? How does body positivity take back the word “fat?”

Are you new to Reading? Come to our New Resident Open House on Tuesday, October 18, to learn about town organizations and meet your neighbors! Registration is strongly recommended.

We’re excited to announce the first in a series of a collaboration between the Office of Equity and Social Justice (OESJ) and the Reading Public Library. Indigenous artist and Massachusett Tribe Educator/Historian Thomas Green returns to the library on November 5 to present Beads and Stories, an introduction to seed beading. In this hands-on workshop, Green will teach the basics of creating a seed bead bracelet while sharing Massachusett traditions.

During your busy fall season, take the library with you by using the new Reading Public Library app.

In one convenient place, you can now search the library catalog, place items on hold, and reserve discounted passes to area attractions. Use the library app to store your digital library card to scan at checkout and access your favorite downloadable and streaming library services such as Kanopy, hoopla, and Libby. The app is available for download for both IOS and Android devices with your PIN.

Be sure to stop by and say hello at the Fall Street Faire on September 11–you can pick up more info about our fall programs and check out our fabulous Book Bike, which you’ll soon be seeing around town. We look forward to seeing you this fall!
