2024 Pleasant Street Center Health Fair on Wednesday, May 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Over 20 area agencies will be in attendance for you to visit, talk with, and collect information from.
Following his program, Blindness As Identity/In Society, Aymon Langlois, a scholar-activist and educator with roots in Reading, will discuss the meaning of access, the disability rights movement, and more on April 17 at the Reading Public Library.
A beautiful exhibit of handmade one-of-a-kind items will be on display. In addition, there will be crafts for sale, a cookie sale, and a craft supply sale. This year we will have a beautiful quilt made by the members for raffle. Admission and parking are free. Plenty of parking in the rear of the building. Handicap accessible.
Mission of Deeds is a non-profit organization providing new beds and gently used furniture, and household items to individuals and families in need in Middlesex and Essex counties. We have been in operation for more than 30 years in downtown Reading and furnished almost 17,000 homes. We assist people in need transitioning out of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, fire and flood victims, and anyone in need as vetted by a professional in an official capacity. We do not receive government funding.
Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at over 500 indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April. Reading’s only independent bookstore, Whitelam Books, is excited to invite our customers to a fun celebration

Donate a bike in good working condition on Friday, May 3, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, or on Saturday, May 4, 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Donors of usable bikes will receive a voucher for early admittance to the bike Giveaway. Look for a FREE bike at the Give-Away on Saturday, May 4, 12:00 noon. Voucher Holders only. 12:30 pm. Open to All!
The Reading Art Association Spring Show returns this May with artwork of over 90 artist members representing surrounding towns and cities. The show will be held at the Congregational Church, Woburn Street in Reading, on May 3 from 7:30 – 9:30 and on Saturday, May 4 from 10:00 – 3:00. Entrance to Guild Hall, where the art show is held is the middle side door on Sanborn Street.
