House Tour Event in Reading- Transformation
The Friends of the Reading Public Library are pleased to welcome you to the 2018 House Tour. This year’s tour features nine homes that capture what makes Reading special. Homes notable for their age, style, size and yes, shape. All have been transformed in one way or another – whether to accommodate a lifestyle transition to “one-floor” living, restore a historic home to its original splendor, or incorporate contemporary updates to a classic style.
Walk through Reading’s past when you visit three homes listed on the National Register of Historic Places the William Parker House, the Chute House (later called the Carter Mansion) and Wisteria Lodge. And take in contemporary Reading when you visit two homes built in 2015.
Throughout the tour, you’ll also see how many homeowners extended their vision outside as well. Where there once was a driveway or walkway now stands a stately fountain, detailed stone patio, tiered garden or spectacular and scaping that can be admired all year long.
Tickets are $25 per person and available at the Reading Library, and two local retailers, the Hitching Post and Whitelam Books. Tickets are also available online at the Friends site: friendsofreadingpl.org.
Tickets are $30 per person the day of the tour. Proceeds from the House Tour help fund programs at the library that transform so many lives in our community.
