Reading, MA — Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a Needham Heights man with operating under the influence following an incident in a parking lot Monday morning.
EDGYR ANNILUS, AGE 41, of NEEDHAM HEIGHTS was arrested and charged with:
- Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
- Possession of Open Container of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle
On Monday, Jan. 6, at about 10:41 a.m., Reading Police responded to the area of 25 Walkers Brook Drive for reports of an unresponsive male in a parked vehicle.
Officers arrived to find a blue Nissan Rogue with its engine running and a male in the driver’s seat slumped over the wheel. Officers made several attempts to wake the male before opening the driver’s side door out of concern for his well-being.
Officers were able to wake the male, identified as ANNILUS. While speaking to ANNILUS, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from his person. Officers also observed an open bottle of liquor on the passenger seat.
An initial investigation, as a result of a field sobriety test, determined that ANNILUS had been operating under the influence. ANNILUS had a blood alcohol level of .213, nearly three times the legal limit.
ANNILUS was arrested without incident and is scheduled to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
