Obituary: Domenic V. Rotondi, 95, Former Lions Club President

May 11, 1928 – April 17, 2024

Domenic was born in Avellino, Italy, to Alfred and Josephine (Bevilacqua) Rotondi on May 11, 1928. At the age of seven, he immigrated to the United States in 1935, settling in Winchester, Massachusetts. Domenic graduated from Winchester High School in 1947 and went on to Northeastern University. He was also a proud member of the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1952.

Domenic’s employment career included Leopold Moss, MIT Lincoln Labs, and Mitre Corporation. After moving to Reading, Massachusetts, in 1958 with his wife Carolyn, Domenic dedicated much of his time to the Reading chapter of the Lion’s Club, where he served as President on numerous occasions. His commitment to the Town of Reading over the years also earned him the honor of Reading’s “2013 Citizen of the Year” award. Domenic loved to travel, cook, garden, and woodwork, but nothing equaled his passion for family time. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Domenic was the loving husband of 67 years to the late Carolyn A. (Gallagher) Rotondi, devoted father of three daughters, Laura Fredette and husband Norman of Amesbury, Paula Pelrine and husband Stephen of Tewksbury and Kimberly D’Orlando and husband Bill of North Reading. Domenic is also survived by grandchildren Meghann Basque and husband Nate, John Tassinari and wife Shannon, Matthew Pelrine and fiance Stephanie Murray, Michael Pelrine, Allison D’Orlando, and Abigail D’Orlando, as well as three great-grandchildren, Hazel, Hunter, and Brady. He was the cherished brother of Camille Kapamagian of Revere and the late John Rotondi of Reading.

The family would also like to express its deepest gratitude to Mariana and Lillian for their care, love, and support.

Private funeral services for immediate family only will be held at the Douglass Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street, Reading.
