Obituary: Alton “Al” Everett Brown, 92

July 30, 1931 ~ January 15, 2024

Alton Everett Brown passed away on January 15, 2024, at age 92. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Clarice) Brown of Reading, Massachusetts, children Elaine (Brent) Mainzinger of Marietta, Georgia, and Lloyd (Margie Heyworth) Brown of Brookfield, Wisconsin. His grandchildren are David (Julia) Mainzinger of Chiangmai, Thailand, Paul (Megan) Mainzinger of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Laura Mainzinger of Washington D.C., Sarah Brown of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Eric Brown of St. Paul, Minnesota, and great grandchildren Evelyn, Nova Joy, Titus, Hannah and Jane Mainzinger.

Al was born and raised in Reading, Massachusetts, to loving parents Robert and Greta. Talented in math, he earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from the University of Maine. He married the love of his life, Pauline, and together they journeyed to Wisconsin where they built a life together. He proudly worked for Allis Chalmers, Sorgel Electric, RTE Corporation and Square D. In retirement, Al served on the trustees for Community United Methodist Church in Elm Grove of which he was a member for over 60 years. He was an avid fitness enthusiast playing racquetball and exercising regularly. He and Pauline enjoyed taking cruises in their retirement. They spent their sunset years at St. Camillus, and the family is thankful for their care over the years.

Al was a kind, loving, caring, quiet man. He enjoyed jokes and having personal relationships with people around him. As a husband, he was dedicated to Pauline, caring for her for many years. As a father, he was a loving man, working hard to provide a great life for his family. As a grandfather, he poured love into his grandchildren’s lives and helped make them into the people they are today. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Becker-Ritter Funeral Home, 14075 West North Avenue, Brookfield, Wi on Sunday January 28 from 1-3 pm with memorial service to follow.

Instead of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Red Cross.
