Harmony Rings Through the Holidays: Reading Community Singers Deliver Spectacular Holiday Concert

Choir Enchants Audience with Heartwarming Holiday Cheer

READING, MA –  The Reading Community Singers celebrated the season with their annual holiday concert on Saturday, December 9, at Shepardson Hall in Parker Middle School. The theme for this year’s concert, “Holiday Party,” was headed by artistic director Beth Mosier and accompanist Joseph Beniniati.

The Reverend JongWook Hong from Old South United Methodist, rehearsal home to RCS, welcomed the audience to the concert. The group then sang “Christmas Bells Are Ringing,” “Once Upon a December,” “Last Christmas,” “Let Me Fly,” “Somewhere in My Memory,” “Celebration of Light,” and “The Chanukah Song (We Are Light).”

Guest artists – The Sniveling Norburys, AKA Jingling Noel-berries, during the holiday season. This new group is comprised of RCS members, including Tom Brukilacchio, Jeff Dietz, Judy Doucette, Al Mosier, and Vince Pito. The Noel-berries performed Rockin’ “Around the Christmas Tree,” “Holiday Party,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” and “Feliz Navidad.” Watch for their return to the Porchfest music festival in the summer of 2024.

The audience then joined in for a holiday sing-a-long of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Jingle Bells,” “Deck the Halls,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

The Singers then returned to performing “Jingle Bells,” “Stopping by Woods,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Night of Silence,” “Hallelujah,” “99 Million Miles”, and ended with “We Wish You the Merriest.”

Reading Community Singers is a chorus of over 60 men and women, young and old, brought together by a desire to sing and share our music with the community. RCS performs holiday and spring concerts each year and also sings at other venues ranging from sporting events to town celebrations to elderly housing

Initially founded as the Women’s Choral Society in 1919, Reading Community Singers is one of the oldest continuous running non-audition community choruses in the country.
