Haggerty and Jones honor former Reading Coalition for Prevention and Support Outreach Coordinator Krystal Mellonakos-Garay with House citation

Reading, MA – State Representative Richard M. Haggerty (D-Woburn) and House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) recently honored former Reading Coalition for Prevention and Support Outreach Coordinator Krystal Mellonakos-Garay with a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Haggerty, on behalf of the Reading delegation, presented Mellonakos-Garay with the House citation acknowledging her two years of dedicated service at the Reading Coalition and her previous work as a certified domestic violence counselor with the Woburn, Wilmington and Reading Police Departments, via RESPOND Inc. The presentation took place during the goodbye gathering at the Reading Police Department on September 13. He was joined at the presentation by Reading Police Chief David Clark, and many other Reading Police Department staff members who came to support her.

“Krystal has been an invaluable member of the Reading Coalition team for the past two years, and her commitment to substance misuse prevention and education in our community has made a real difference. She was a true asset to the Reading Coalition,” said Representative Haggerty. “I want to congratulate Krystal on her new position as the Regional Youth Substance Prevention Manager with the City of Chelsea where I believe her talents will continue to make a meaningful impact. While Reading will certainly miss her, we celebrate Krystal’s accomplishments here and wish her nothing but the best in this exciting next chapter.”

“As the Reading Coalition for Prevention and Support’s Outreach Coordinator, Krystal has helped lead the

town’s efforts to combat substance abuse and provide residents with access to mental health resources,” said Representative Jones. “Over the last two years, she has played a key role in developing programs that have made a positive difference at Reading Memorial High School and throughout the community. We wish Krystal well in her new role as Chelsea’s Regional Youth Substance Prevention Manager and know that she will do a terrific job as she takes on this new challenge.”

Mellonakos-Garay left the Reading Coalition on September 14 to accept her new position with the City of Chelsea as the Regional Youth Substance Prevention Manager.
