Reading Police to Wear “Rocket” Patch to Recognize Graduating High School Seniors

The Reading Police Department’s Reading Memorial High School patch will be available for $10 this June

READING — Chief David Clark is pleased to announce that the Reading Police Department will wear special patches in June to recognize graduating high school seniors.

The Reading Police Department is partnering with the Reading Food Pantry in this effort, and all proceeds from patch sales will benefit the pantry.

Seniors at Reading Memorial High School graduate on Friday, June 2.

“We are extremely proud of all the graduates of Reading Memorial High School,” said Chief Clark. “Reading is a vibrant and close-knit community, a community that is reflected by the students at RMHS. The Reading Police Department is thrilled to recognize these graduates for their accomplishments and persistence throughout their time in high school and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.”

Members of the Reading Police Department, including both School Resource Officers, will wear the special patch on their uniforms throughout the month to honor the students whose high school experience was impacted by the pandemic. The patch is also available to members of the public who donate $10.

Donors who would like to receive a patch should send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Community Service Officer Kristen O’Shaughnessy at the police station, 15 Union St., Reading, MA 01867, along with a check for $10 or more made out to the Reading Food Pantry.

“The Reading Police Department is consistently involved in our schools and is committed to providing support to our students,” said Superintendent Thomas Milaschewski. “We are thankful for this partnership and for the continued support, which is seen by the Department’s annual effort to show their town spirit by wearing the ‘Rocket’ patch.”
