Obituary: Robert E. Hutcheson, 86

September 7, 1935 – June 3, 2022

Robert E. Hutcheson, a resident of Reading for 56 years, passed away on June 3, 2022, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.  He was 86 years of age.

Robert was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on September 7, 1935, the son of the late Donald M. and Alice (Chick) Hutcheson.  He grew up in Andover and graduated from Punchard High School class of 1954.  Robert was a self-employed business owner of B & H Home Appliance Repair.  He enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling but his family was first and foremost in his life.  Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Era.  He was a paratrooper and was member of the the11th Airborne Division under the silky wings of the First Battalion 188th Airborne Infantry Regiment (Eagles).

Robert was the beloved husband of the late Susanne F. (Lazzarino) Hutcheson.  Devoted father of Steven R. Hutcheson and his wife Vicki of Newburyport, John J. Hutcheson and his wife Tara of Milton, and Robert T. Hutcheson of Reading.  Cherished brother of Mary Allen and her husband Tom of Ipswich and the late Donald Hutcheson.  Loving grandfather of Joshua, Deana, Adam, Matthew and Christian.

Robert’s funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Thursday, June 9 at 845am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10:00am.  Burial with military honors will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.  Funeral home visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00pm.
