Obituary: Valerie J. Wilson Lacourse, 53

March 21, 1968 – December 14, 2021

Valerie J. Wilson Lacourse, age 53, passed away peacefully at her home in Derry, NH after a courageous battle with cancer.

Val, as she was known by loved ones, was born in Everett, Mass on March 21, 1968, the daughter of Charles “Bud” Wilson of Reading and the late Andrea (Semenuk) Wilson. She was the beloved wife of Raymond Lacourse for 22 years. She grew up in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1986.

Val worked in the travel industry for many years before being employed as a supervisor at XPO Logistics in Dracut for over a decade.

Val had a wonderful and wicked sense of humor. A vibrant spot during especially dark times, she showed fierce dedication to supporting those around her and loving them all unconditionally. She was always very optimistic, thoughtful, and selfless to a fault. She was hard-working, loved to cook (never burning the thanksgiving turkey once), and had a deep love for animals, especially her two dogs, Teddy and Roo, and her four cats. Val saw the world as it was, choosing to find and insert joy and care in it despite hardships.

Besides her husband and father, Valerie is survived by her son, Sirius Lacourse of Derry, NH; her sister Christine Allain and her husband Paul of Burlington, her brother Keith Wilson and his wife Julie of Reading; her sisters-in-law Sheila Laurin and her husband Richard, Theresa Ayotte and brother-in-law Kenneth Lacourse and his wife Debra. Val is also survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and an abundance of dear friends. She is predeceased by a brother, Scott Wilson, and her mother, Andrea.

Arrangements – Family and friends are invited to celebrate Val’s life at the M. R. Laurin & Son Funeral Home, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Monday, Dec. 20, from 4 to 7 pm. For those attending, facial coverings are respectfully required. Her interment will be held on Tues at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel in Everett at 10 am. All are invited to attend.
