Legal Notice – Advertisement for Bids

Town of Reading, Massachusetts (OWNER)

Sealed bids for construction of the Auburn Street Water Storage Tank Replacement for the Town of Reading, Massachusetts, will be received at the Town Hall, Town Clerk’s office, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA 01867 until 1:00 p.m. prevailing time, on August 26, 2021, at which time and place said bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The scope of work includes construction of a 762,000 gallon glass-fused-to-steel water storage tank and appurtenances including a new concrete pedestal; installation of a submersible tank mixer and appurtenances; installation of telecommunication and electrical conduits; demolition of the existing 750,000 gallon welded steel elevated storage tank and concrete footings; demolition and disposal of concrete vaults and other structures; excavation and disposal of lead impacted soils; and associated appurtenant site work.

Bid Security in the form of a bid bond, cash, certified check, treasurer’s or cashier’s check payable to the Owner, is required in the amount of five percent of the bid, in accordance with Section 00200, INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS.

*All bids for this project are subject to applicable bidding laws of Massachusetts, including General Laws Chapter 30, Section 39M as amended.

Prevailing Wage Rates under the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27H, as amended, apply to this project.  

The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities in bids and to reject any or all bids.
