Obituary: Nicholas E. Falcione, 87

April 2, 1934 ~ July 20, 2021

Nicholas E. Falcione, 87, devoted husband of 56 years to Maureen (Towsey) Falcione, passed away on Tuesday, July 20th, 2021.  Born in Castle del Guidice, Molise Italy, he is the loving son of the late Amelia (Cenci) Falcione and her late husband Vincent Falcione.

Nick, affectionately known as “Papa,” grew up in Italy and immigrated to the United States at the end of World War II.  Originally they lived in the South End of Boston and then moved to Medford.  He is a 1954 graduate of Boston Technical High School and served in the Army as a Lineman.  Nick married the love of his life Maureen, who he met on the Ski Train traveling from Boston’s North Station to North Conway, NH.   They settled to begin their family in Reading.  For many years, Nick worked as a pressman for Mitre Corporation in Bedford, MA.

Nick was an avid skier, belonging to the Massaschussers Ski Club in the Mount Washington Valley during the late 1960s/early 70s.   He later built his dream family vacation home in Bartlett, NH.  Nick was happiest working on his ski chalet, with the help of family and friends.  He also had a passion for woodworking and was very proud of the grandfather clock he made in his youth.  If you asked him what he was most proud of, it was being a United States citizen and his military service.

The grandchildren were Nick’s greatest joy.  He loved making soup for them – known as “Papa’s Soup”.  He often spent time in his woodshop creating small wooden settee garden chairs for each grandchild and doing repairs for friends and family.

He is the Loving father of Vincent Falcione and his wife Kit of Ipswich and Cristina Collins and her husband Corey of Reading.  Grandfather to Nicholas Falcione of Nantucket, Christopher Falcione of Boston, and Isabella, Charlotte and Sophia Collins of Reading.  He was the foster parent to Patty Smith and Thomas Harper, and grandfather to their children Sarah Smith Moccia, and Justin and Jenna Harper.  Great-grandfather to Sarah’s four children.

Family and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park Street, NORTH READING Home on Friday, July 30, 2021, from 10 to 12pm.  A Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at noon, followed by the burial at Wood End Cemetery on Franklin Street in Reading.
