Andrew J. Vinchesi, age 98, of Reading died peacefully at his home on Tuesday September 8.
He was born in Malden on May 19, 1922, and was the son of the late John R. and Rose (Agneta) Vinchesi.
Andrew was raised in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1940. After High School, he joined the Navy and was a decorated pilot during WWII. Andrew was a retired Captain of the Everett Police Department.
He was the beloved husband of Carmella (Bernardi) Vinchesi. He was the loving father of Robert Vinchesi and his wife Christine of North Reading, Dianne Schermerhorn and her husband James of Truro, and Andrea Hart and her husband Dennis of North Reading. Andrew was the grandfather of Alicia Green, Richard Green, Jessica Hoey, Jenna McCarthy, and Sarah and Scott Vinchesi. He was the brother of the late John Vinchesi. Andrew is also survived by his 3 great-grandchildren.
Andrew’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 14 at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield.
