Obituary: Ralph C. Blunt, 91

August 11, 1928 – June 05, 2020

Ralph Charles Blunt of Reading, MA passed away peacefully on June 5th, 2020 at the age of 91.

Born in Medford, MA, Ralph was the sixth son of Almer E. Blunt and Florence (Foss) Blunt. Ralph graduated from the American Institute of Banking and progressed in the field as a bank auditor for 22 years. He then worked as a programmer for Verizon until his retirement. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Reading, where he served as the treasurer for 17 years. Ralph enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing pool with his friends and family. Ralph’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

Ralph was the dearly beloved husband of Adele F. (Petrocelli) Blunt, with whom he would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 9th. Devoted father of Marilyn A. Sullivan and her husband Mark of Londonderry, NH; Stephen C. Blunt and his wife Kimberly of Holden; Valerie A. Sarsfield and her husband Steven of Stoneham; and David C. Blunt and his wife Victoria of Reading. Loving grandfather of Natalia Vragovic and her husband Boris, Mark Sullivan Jr. and his girlfriend Beatriz Lopez, Matthew Blunt and his wife Jasmine, Jacqueline, and Katherine Sarsfield, and Grayson Wayne. Loving great grandfather of Luka Vragovic. Ralph also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ralph’s memory to the First Congregational Church in Reading or to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Agnes Church.

A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, June 15th from 10 am to 12 pm. A private funeral service will be held following the visitation. Burial will be at the Wood End Cemetery in Reading.
