Saturday, Dec. 2

Festival of Trees 11 AM – 8 PM, Parker Middle School, 45 Temple St.
This annual fundraiser of the Reading Education Foundation is a family event. Visitors will be delighted by a winter wonderland of decorated holiday trees that are raffled off to lucky winners. It includes a special reading of The Polar Express.

Suburban Holidays Six 8 PM, Quannapowitt Playhouse, 55 Hopkins St.
The Quannapowitt Players present an evening of seven new plays all about the holidays.


Making Spirits Bright – A Holiday Celebration 7:30 PM, Old South Methodist Church
A long-time staple of the Reading holiday calendar, this must-see concert is by the nearly century-old Reading Community Singers.

Sunday, Dec. 3

Parker Tavern Holiday Open House 2 PM – 4 PM, Parker Tavern, 103 Washington St. Free
Reading’s oldest house and museum showcases 18th and 19th century life in Reading. On this day it will be beautifully adorned in period horticultural decorations by the Reading Garden Club. There will be entertainment and refreshments.

Memory Tree Lighting Ceremony 4:00 PM, Reading Public Library
This event is sponsored by the Reading Garden Club and gives people the opportunity to commemorate individuals or to celebrate special events by purchasing lights to decorate the tree. All proceeds go to garden club projects for the town of Reading. The public is invited to participate. Music will be provided by members of the Colonial Chorus and by members of the Reading Community Concert Band.
