Alex is being recognized for her excellence in scholarship, athletics, service, and leadership. Academically, Alex is an outstanding student, ranking in the top 20th decile of the Class of 2018 and earning Honor Roll recognition for all four years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society and has taken three Advanced Placement classes in Biology, AP Calculus, and Spanish. Athletically, Alex has been a four-year member of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team and is a captain on this year’s Lady Rockets. She was awarded “Rookie of the Year” honors her freshman year and was recognized as a Middlesex League All-Star last year for her outstanding play. Alex’s proudest moment though was last season, when she helped lead the team to a berth in the post-season tournament for the first time in eight years. During the winter season, Alex is a member of the Varsity Girls Indoor Track Team—and will be serving as a captain this coming season. She is also a member of the New England Rush Club Soccer Team and the Select Regional Team for Olympic Development Program. In terms of service, Alex finds the time to participate in and contribute to the Habitat for Humanity Club, Samantha’s Harvest, and a Birthday Wishes Club. She volunteers at special events and after school programs at Birch Meadow Elementary School and coaches/referees with Reading Youth Soccer. This past summer, Alex joined a group of over 30 RMHS students to help build homes for families in need in North Carolina through Habitat for Humanity. Next year, Alex plans to attend college and hopes to play soccer while pursuing a career in nursing.

Michael Presho, Class of 2018

Michael is being recognized for his excellence in academics, athletics, and service. Michael is an accomplished student who has consistently made the Honor Roll throughout his career here at RMHS and hopes to become a member of the National Honor Society this fall. For his positive and conscientious decision-making, last year, Michael was recognized as the 11th grade recipient of the Responsibility Award, setting him apart as a leader by action in a very accomplished class. This year, Michael has continued to challenge himself by taking a very challenging course load—including three Advanced Placement courses. Athletically, Michael has been a member of the RMHS Golf Team for several years and has helped the Rocket Golfers be very competitive in Middlesex League Play. He is especially proud of the team’s recent victory over a highly ranked Winchester opponent. Michael is very excited about the Rocket’s prospects over the remainder of the season. In terms of service, Michael has worked in a variety of settings as a tutor and has enjoyed assisting students who have encountered challenges and who require a patient coach to help get them through a difficult course or topic. He also served as an Upper Connector this summer assisting incoming freshmen with the transition to high school and also does a variety of volunteer work in the Reading community. Next year, Michael plans to attend college and to pursue a major in business. Congratulations, Michael!
