A new coffee shop is coming to Reading! European cafe, Caffe Nero will be opening in the old Wine Shop space.
Twenty years ago, Caffe Nero’s founder, Gerry Ford had a vision to create traditional Italian cafes across Europe. He wanted to create a neighborhood place where friends could meet for a good cup of coffee. After they had a few cafes under their belt, they developed their own roastery and a unique, award-winning coffee blend. They created a training program for their baristas to learn how to make all of their coffee drinks. The business grew to more than 650 locations in Europe. Now, they have nearly a dozen cafes in the Greater Boston area. According to their website, they have received many awards for their coffee and customer service, including:
- 2002- 2009: Ranked ‘Best Coffee Quality’ and ‘Best Coffee House Brand’ – Allegra Report
- 2009 – 2011: The Masters of Coffee Barista Champions: 2009 – 2011, 1st Place
- 2013: Voted ‘Best Tasting Coffee on the High Street’ – Independent Consumer Magazine
- 2013: Voted ‘The Best Independent Coffee Shop Brand’ -Food Business Awards
They are sure to be a great addition to Downtown Reading. Keep your eye on the Post for more news about their upcoming opening!
