Why Not Publish All Letters?

trp-001Thank you for being willing to share letters to the editor regarding the upcoming override vote. I appreciate you helping to keep the residents of Reading informed. However, I am confused why you will only post an equal number of yes and no supporters. If you receive more letters of one why would you withhold them from the public? Your readers deserve the chance to hear from as many voices as possible so that they can make their own informed decision. Every letter represents a unique perspective, and in terms of journalistic integrity it seems outright wrong to withhold anything. If one side is more vocal the residents of Reading deserve to see and read that. This election is about exercising our right to decide the future of Reading and choosing what we feel is in the best interest of our town. The stakes are extremely high, and yet some residents still barely understand what the vote is about or even that it’s happening. It would seem your duty to publish any letter to the editor expressing an honest opinion about the vote.  I urge you to reconsider.
