Reading State Primary Results

Polls opened in Reading on September 8 at 7:00AM for the State Primary Election.  Only 4.7% of Reading voters appeared at the polls today, likely due to the lack of contested races.  All vote totals reported are for Reading only.

In the Republican Primary, Vincent Lawrence Dixon was the only candidate for nomination to the State Senate in the 5th Middlesex District.  Dixon received 179 votes.  In Precincts 1, 6, 7, & 8, Brad Jones was the only candidate for State Legislature.  Jones, the incumbent, received 108 votes.

On the Democratic side there is a race for the nomination of the Middlesex County Sheriff.  Vote totals are:

Peter J. Koutujian of Waltham – 354
Barry S. Kelleher of Wilmington – 233

The race for nomination for the 6th District Governor’s Council is also contested. Vote totals are:

Terrence W. Kennedy of Lynnfield – 478
Stephen Borelli of Boston – 71
Richard J. DiMeo of Boston – 29

In precincts 2-5 there is also a race for the 30th Middlesex District Representative in the State Legislature.  Vote totals are:

James J. Dwyer of Woburn – 287
John Patrick Devine of Woburn – 58

Congressman Seth Moulton was also unopposed for re-nomination.  Molten received 559 votes.

The Green and Independent Parties fielded no candidates in any of the races.

Results posted are unofficial. The winning candidates will appear on the ballot in the general election on November 8.
