Reading Robotics Team

READING – Hawkes Field House at RMHS will play host to “First Stronghold”, a competition with over 40 high school robotics teams from all over New England.  This event, held over the evenings of March 12 & 13, is sponsored by “The Robockets,” RMHS’s first robotics team, which will be competing in the event.

Admission to this event is free, and refreshments will be sold to help support the work of the Robotics Team.

FIRST Robotic Competition team 4761, The Robockets, promotes a fun and interactive out-of-the-classroom educational experience for Reading students that supports the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) initiatives within the schools. They challenge students to collaborate as peers with supervision from adult mentors who are subject matter experts in the business and technical disciplines required to make a successful team/business. The Robockets students challenge themselves with hands on learning to design, fund, and build a robot. The team relies on cooperation, compromise, sportsmanship, and strategy to overcome challenges.  This process enables students to learn to contribute to the community and develop excitement for STEM careers.
