The Reading Trust Fund Commissioners announced today that they have expanded the programs it offers to Reading residents to include an exciting new program called the Caregiver Respite Program. This new offering is part of the Reading Response Program.
The new program provides Certified Home Health Aides through Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice for up to three hours per month. The program is designed to provide care for Reading residents in their home while their caregiver enjoys free time away. Caregivers can use the time to go to their own doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, hair appointments, or even to just relax and go for a walk. The service is intended to provide caregivers a much-needed break from tasks while still assuring that their person is cared for.
The Reading Response Program is funded by the Town of Reading’s Hospital Trust Funds, the income on which helps to defray medically related services to Reading citizens as authorized by the Commissioners. These funds are separate from the Town’s General Fund and are not taxpayer funded. The Reading Response Program is administered by The Town or Reading Elder/Human Services Division, Hallmark Health Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice to assist in meeting health needs of the senior residents of Reading.
