Walkable Reading Walking Tour of West Street Historic District
West Street reconstruction is nearing completion and Walkable Reading wants to inaugurate the new sidewalks with an historic walking tour on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1 PM. The West Street Historic District, which consists of many diverse house styles dating from the late 1700’s through the Queen Anne period and right up to the homes of today, will be featured.
The narrated walking tour will explain how Dragon Corner gained its name and where the Reading militia left for Concord on April 19, 1775. We will see the home of a famous musician, and learn other stories hidden behind the walls of many of West Street’s homes.
The walk will begin at the corner of West Street and County Road. If needed, please park on Louanis Drive, Countryside Lane, or Wentworth Road. In case of inclement weather, check the Walkable Reading Facebook page or email us at walkablereading@comcast.net.
