Obituary: Deborah Ann Center, 58

Feb 26, 1968 — Oct 24, 2026

Deborah Ann Center, 58, of Reading, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, and raised in Wayland, Deb was a woman of remarkable beauty, warmth, kindness, and grace. Peaceful by nature and soft-spoken, she had a calm that put others at ease immediately. Her smile could light up a room, and her sparkling blue eyes, as brilliant as precious gemstones, were unforgettable. She carried herself with effortless elegance and quiet style, never needing to show off or draw attention to herself.

Deb dedicated more than 30 years to her career as a sonographer specializing in obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, including 25 years with the same company. She genuinely loved her work and felt both grateful and honored that expectant families entrusted her with the precious responsibility of checking on their babies, watching them grow, and helping ensure they were developing healthily. She understood the significance of those moments and the trust placed in her. Her extraordinary loyalty, dedication, and compassion defined her, not only in her professional life but also in her relationships with family and friends.

Deb had a wonderful appreciation for life and all its simple pleasures. She loved to read and learn, often losing herself in a book for hours, or sitting on the porch wrapped in a cozy throw blanket, watching the birds or gazing up at the sky while sipping a glass of wine and listening to relaxing music. Although she made friends effortlessly and made people feel welcome from the moment they met her, she also treasured quiet moments and the peace of her own company.

Nature held a special place in Deb’s heart. An avid gardener, she could spend countless hours tending to her flowers and plants, nurturing everything she grew. Her garden reflected her gentle, caring spirit, filled with birdbaths and feeders for the birds she adored. She took particular delight in the hummingbirds that returned year after year, knowing she had created a welcoming place for them.

She loved the ocean, the warmth of the sun, and the feeling of sand beneath her feet. Travel was another of her great joys. She embraced new places, cultures, and foods with an open mind and a sense of adventure. Her Instagram name, “I’d Rather Be in Mexico,” said a lot about her love of sunshine, beautiful beaches, and the freedom to enjoy life. And she was always happy to savor a good dirty martini.

Among Deb’s great loves was her beloved dog, Topè, whom she rescued from Mexico and lovingly nursed back to health. Deb gave Topè a wonderful life filled with love, care, and companionship. In return, Topè became a source of unconditional love and comfort, helping Deb through a particularly difficult chapter of her own life. In so many ways, they rescued each other. Their bond was extraordinary, and even after Topè’s passing several years ago, Deb’s love for her never faded.

Nothing meant more to Deb than her family. Being a mother and grandmother was among the greatest joys of her life. She wanted only the best for her daughters, offering gentle guidance, unwavering encouragement, and steady love and support. She believed in allowing them to find their own paths while always being there when they needed her. Her grandchildren, Avi and Aria, brought her immeasurable happiness. She adored them, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

For nearly eight years, Deb shared her life with her loving partner, John Tawadros. Their relationship was built on deep love, mutual respect, companionship, and an appreciation for one another’s individuality. Together they embraced life’s adventures while understanding the importance of giving each other the freedom and space to simply be themselves.

Deb lived with humility, never measuring happiness by possessions or appearances. Her true wealth lay in her family’s love, the friendships she nurtured, and the simple joys of everyday life. She never sought attention or wanted anyone making a fuss over her, yet when others went out of their way to make her feel special, she was genuinely touched and grateful. She had a rare ability to make a lasting impression without ever seeking the spotlight. Those who met her were naturally drawn to her warmth, sincerity, and gentle spirit.

Deb leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Caryse and Kayla; her cherished grandchildren, Avi and Aria; her son-in-law, Ronen; her loving mother, Nancy; her sister, Susan; and her longtime partner, John.

Perhaps Deb’s spirit is best remembered in the simple things she loved most: the quiet beauty of a garden, the return of a hummingbird, the sound of the ocean, and the warmth of sunshine on her face. We’d like to imagine that somewhere, on a beautiful, peaceful beach, Deb is sitting in the sunshine with her beloved Topè by her side once again.

In those moments, those who loved her will always find a little piece of Deb.
