Obituary: Donna Lee (Drury) Horton, 88

Donna Lee (Drury) Horton of Reading passed away on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026. She is 88 years old.

Born on Monday, December 20th, 1937, in Waltham, Donna is the loving daughter of the late Paul Drury and Marion (Everett) Drury of Watertown.

Donna was a Reading resident for 55 years. Donna loved to travel, especially cruising with friends and family. She was an avid knitter, making Christmas stockings, sweaters, and afghans for her children all the way through to her Great-grandchildren. Donna enjoyed playing cards. She always looked forward to her Wednesday card games with her girlfriends and her monthly book club.

Donna joined the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary 49 years ago and remained a dedicated member throughout those years. She served as DAV Auxiliary State Commander from 1989–1990 and continued to give generously of her time and talents to the Auxiliary. She participated in the annual Auxiliary fundraiser and served on numerous committees. Donna also served multiple National Commanders as an Escort and Sergeant-at-Arms. She represented Massachusetts with distinction as a National Executive Committee member for District 1 in Massachusetts. Donna was also a Deputy and a dedicated volunteer at the VA West Roxbury Medical Center, where she continued her commitment to veterans and their families.

Donna was the beloved wife of the late Gerald Horton for 51 years. She is the devoted mother of Bob Horton and his wife Sharon, Paul Horton and his wife Joanne, and Donald Horton and the late Bruce Horton. She is Sandi Horton’s caring mother-in-law. The cherished grandmother of Christopher Horton, Joseph McLauchlan, Nicole Childress, Andrew McLauchlan, Cody Hilton, Sean Horton, Amelia Horton, Quinn Horton, and the late Alyssa Horton. Donna is the great-grandmother of Savannah, Caroline, Liam, Joey Jr., Autumn, Nova, Gianna, Landon, Davina, Lily, Owen, and Aleah. She is the dear sister of Judith Elder and her husband, George. Donna is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Donna was a warm, kind, gentle, and loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Donna’s Family on Wednesday, August 19th from 4-7pm in the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden Street READING. Parking attendants: An elevator is available.

A Funeral Service Celebrating Donna’s Eternal Life will be held on Thursday, August 20th at 10:30am in the Funeral Home.
