Obituary: John D. D’Arcangelo, 34

September 28, 1990 ~ January 11, 2025

John David D’Arcangelo, age 34, of Reading, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 11, 2025, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, following a brief illness.

John was born in Stoneham, MA, on September 28, 1990; he was the cherished son of Joseph and Theresa (Gilligan) D’Arcangelo of Reading. John was raised and educated in Reading, MA, and was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School.

John was an avid reader and writer of poetry; he had a subtle, dry sense of humor that drew people to him. Laughter was his superpower; he was a great observer of life, and he loved to share his opinions on life, music, poetry, and the environment. For years, he played the drums and enjoyed seeing his favorite bands in concert.

Besides his parents, John is survived by his beloved brother, James D’Arcangelo and his wife, Patricia, he was the loving uncle of Anthony D’Arcangelo, dear nephew of Kathleen Gilligan and Tom Angelo of Oakland, CA, Eileen and David Cantone of Plaistow, NH, James and Kathy Gilligan of Plymouth, NH, Shannon Gilligan of North Andover, MA, Paul and Lee D’Arcangelo of York, ME, Karen Gilligan and the late Timothy Gilligan of Hudson, NH. Special cousin of Dominic, Vincent, and Michael Cantone, Tabitha Gilligan, Patrick, Liam, Bridget, and Declan Gilligan, Jessica and Dave Braga and their daughter Isabella, Tina D’Arcangelo, and Sara and Dan Dangora. John is further survived by his extended family and many friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Thursday, January 16th, for Visitation from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. followed by a Service to Celebrate John’s life at 12:30 p.m.
