October 31, 1966 — October 28, 2024
Bradford Q. Roberts, age 57, of Wakefield, passed away on October 28, 2024, at his residence. Brad was born at Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Halloween in 1966. The family had recently relocated to Reading, where Brad attended Austin Preparatory School, graduating with the class of 1985. After a brief time at Boston College studying English Literature, he gained a passion for books, reading, and learning. After leaving Boston College, he traveled and explored the United States National Parks and historic sites, living for a short time on the West Coast. He eventually settled in Wakefield, MA, where he would become a lifelong resident working at the local grocery story and nearby nursing home. A member of St. Joseph’s parish, Brad relied deeply on his faith, read the Bible often, and very much enjoyed the parish community that embraced him.
Brad was a kind and gentle soul with a quick wit and a love of laughter. He was always in pursuit of continuing education and personal growth, enjoying lectures and workshops at the library. He especially loved the Boston Public Library, where he spent many hours reading and exploring. He stayed abreast of the news and what was happening in the world and liked to stay up to date with important issues of the day and current trends. He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found walking along The Malden River Greenway, Boston’s Esplanade, the Alewife Brook Reservation, and, of course, Wakefield’s Lake Quannapowitt. He loved classic cars, was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Brad is predeceased by his mother, Diane, who passed away in 2008, and is survived by his father, David Roberts, and stepmother, Carol of Bartlett, NH; his brothers, Darrin of Marshfield, MA, Glenn of Hampton Falls, NH, Jason of Newry, ME and his sister Sarah Cropper of Hampton NH along with his five nieces and nephews.
Brad will be remembered for his warm smile, his infectious laugh, and his ability to make others feel comfortable and cared for. He was a loyal friend and a loving family member. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield, on Tuesday, November 5 at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Parish, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, MA 01880.
