LtE: I Made it Abundantly Clear

I thought I made myself clear last night with my opening statement at the candidate forum:

“Before we begin, I want to address some misinformation that has been circulating about me. While I resisted jumping into the politically motivated slander, I think setting the record straight is important. First, I do not and never have supported book banning. As a mother of four, I advocate for appropriate book placement in our library and schools. Second, I was never against having a menorah on the common. I advocated against the town sponsoring all religious symbols on the town common. These stances are significantly different than being labeled a book banner or being anti-Semitic. Unfortunately, these misconceptions have been spread to instill fear and divert your attention from the real issues that need addressing in our town, such as MBTA Communities, water rates, and road work! I am committed to addressing the needs of all Reading residents, and I will not back down from those who spread malicious falsehoods to secure votes. I am happy to finally put this to bed.”

I contacted Laura Wilson, Head of the POP Huddle, weeks ago after she asserted that I had something to do with the bomb threat at the Library and that I supported book banning. Unfortunately, Laura Wilson refused to speak with me in person and would only converse via email. She continues to spread her toxic lies to divide this community and secure votes.

My campaign has been based solely on facts and the betterment of our town and ALL of its residents.

If any resident has concerns or questions, my cell is # 617-797-7137.
