LtE: Lies and Conjecture

Here are the facts:

  1. John Lippitt actually got his LTE title correct: Democratic Transfer of Power on Select Board Blocked, everything else beyond that other than his street address were lies and conjecture.
  2. John Lippitt fails to tell you he was there in person.
  3. John Lippitt only tells you, “This transfer of power through election of new officers is supposed to happen after every election.” That is purposely misleading. He is omitting the part immediately following that sentence, “and prior to the opening of the annual Town Meeting.” We only have one Annual Town meeting, and that starts in April.
  4. Mark Dockser set the tone for the entire evening and did not hand the gavel to the Town Manager as has been customary for over a decade. See the earliest RCTV of the way it’s supposed to be handled here or from the April 9, 2013 meeting minutes here. John Lippitt claims “Mr. Bacci and his supporters are willing to paralyze our Town’s government” yet his candidate of choice did that right at the onset of the meeting.
  5. John Lippitt also stated that I demanded to be chair. In actuality quote, “If I am elected chair, I would like it to be for a year”. As seen here.
  6. We have reorganized the last 4 years I have been in office and have done it without fanfare.
  7. The audience of Reading residents were upset that protocol was not being followed and politics were being played by my colleagues.
  8. John Lippitt also accuses me of not trying to calm the crowd down or actually encouraging them. Another lie. He was there in person and heard me try quieting everyone. Though the audio on RCTV is cut off, you can see me clearly here.

I am a duly elected official and should not have to write a letter to defend myself. I felt the need in this case, since John Lippitt is so blatant and is trying to tarnish what exactly happened by lying and being misleading to our town. He easily could have said watch the video for yourself but chose not to.

John Lippitt is Mark Dockser’s Treasurer, the Treasurer for the Democratic Town Committee, the Treasurer of Reading’s first alleged “non-partisan” political action committee (PAC), writer of a previous LTE in which he lied and said I called a candidate a “nice guy” and that was only one of two qualifications. John Lippitt does not have to agree with me or like me, but I guess that doesn’t matter. Lying is easier than telling YOU the real story or hiding how truly partisan HE is. So much for “Together for Reading”.
