Selden M. Gerade, a resident of Reading for 81 years, passed away on January 30, 2024, at the Winchester Hospital. He was 91 years of age.
Selden was born in Melrose, Massachusetts, on April 11, 1932, the son of the late Robert G. and Eliza (Chadwick) Gerade. He was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School, class of 1950. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War.
Throughout his life, Selden was employed as an Electronics Test Engineer for Transitron Electronic Corporation, Teradyne, Inc., and Atrium Corporation.
Selden was the beloved husband of Virginia (Webb) Gerade. Devoted father of Scott A. Gerade and his wife Mary Jo, Susan L. Doolin and her husband Dennis and Glenn W. Gerade all of Reading. Loving grandfather of Sean, Kelly, and Jennifer Doolin, and great grandfather of Hadley, Mckenna, Milo, and Stevie. Step-grandfather of Loren Poulo, Mathew, Justin and Daniel Kennedy, and step-great grandfather of Ruby, Grace, and Dylan.
Funeral services and burial for Selden are private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Selden’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
