Reading Fire Training Exercise

Reading, MA — From the Reading Fire Department Facebook Page – Using an acquired structure for training, crews conducted a realtime training exercise that included deploying handlines, and searching for victims in zero visibility and ventilation. The realtime drill also allowed officers to practice supervisory and command strategies that would be used at an actual house fire. Crews have been conducting training at this location for the past several weeks before the structure is taken down. Donated structures are a huge asset for our crews to practice the skills they need to keep the community and its visitors safe.

Using the same acquired structure as the other groups, members of group 2 completed wall breach drills. A firefighter may need to use a wall breach to escape if conditions deteriorate around them. Learning to save ourselves is a big part of our training.
