Obituary: Barbara P. (Bowen) Boisvert, 94

March 2, 1929 – May 17, 2023

Barbara (née Bowen) Boisvert passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born on March 2, 1929, in Somersworth, New Hampshire, the fifth child of the late Jeremiah and K. Agnes Bowen. She lived a long life filled with love, faith and laughter. 

Barbara was raised in Somersworth by her mother, grandmother, and aunts, after the passing of her father at a young age. Barbara spoke fondly of her childhood with her seven siblings and often found herself ‘getting into mischief ’with them. She was crowned the NH State Biscuit Baking Champion in 1942, and graduated Somersworth High School in 1947. She valued her education and returned to her studies later in life, graduating Northeastern University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. 

Barbara was the proud wife of Dr. Marcel P. Boisvert for 65 years until his passing in 2020. The two built their life in Reading, MA where Barbara was active in the Reading Junior Women’s Club, the Reading Garden Club, and St. Agnes Church. She was an avid Boston sports fan, and is credited with founding Reading’s first Girl’s Little League baseball team. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining and golfing. She could often be found enjoying time with relatives and friends in their second home in Waterville Valley, NH. 

Barbara will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She leaves behind her three children and their spouses: Philip Boisvert and his wife Jennifer (NH), Kathryn Yamartino and her husband Robert (Middlefield, CT), and Jane Burns and her husband Greg (Reading, MA). She was a loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren and their spouses: Robert and his wife Denise, Phillip and his wife Alaria, Kristine, Mairead, Jillian, Ian, Caileen, and Timothy. She was the proud great-grandmother of Caroline, Bowen, and Marcella. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marcel, and her siblings: Rita , Robert, Geraldine, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Gerald Edward, & John Edward Perrault. Barbara is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held privately and in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations made to: St.Agnes Church ,186 Woburn St, Reading ,Ma 01867
