Obituary: Ronald Jordan, 73

July 13, 1950 – May 19, 2023

Ron Jordan fought a long battle with a rare blood condition, Myelofibrosis, only to succumb to Covid on May 19. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Dianne Jordan of Reading, MA; son, Derek Jordan of Las Cruces, NM; mother, Nancy Jordan of Danvers, MA; and brothers, Robert Jordan of Topsfield, MA and David Jordan of Peabody, MA.

He was a graduate of Danvers High School in 1968, Salem State College in 1972, New England School of Law in 1975, and Massachusetts Bar Member in 1975. He worked at the Boston Bar Association, MCLE, and at Boston University as Director of Planned Giving and for New Mexico State University as Assistant Vice President of University Advancement. He was a part-time Professor of Estate Planning and Constitutional Law at Northern Essex Community College, Haverhill, MA, and Professor of Personal Family Finance, Economics of Social Issues, Business Communication, Technical Writing and Advanced Thesis Writing at New Mexico State University.

Ron served as Selectman for the Town of Merrimac, MA, from 1985-1991.

He was the lead author of “Planned Giving: Management, Marketing and Law,” “Invest in Charity,” “Planned Giving for Small Nonprofits,” and “Planned Giving Workbook.”

From childhood, he tried to experience what life had to offer. Life interests included fishing, canoeing, farming, animal husbandry, beekeeping, forestry, music, writing, painting, and most of all, travel. He and Dianne traveled extensively, staying months at a time in Europe and Maui, and made trips to Asia, Australia, Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, and Africa. Experiencing great food, wine, art, architecture, and historical sites were major goals.

Having a strong sense of self, he never wavered from his values. He was a wonderful husband and father. His intelligent sense of humor will be missed and he will be forever remembered as the “God of fun”.

Donations would be appreciated at Dana Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445. Please state “for research of Myelofibrosis related cancers”. Thank you.
