Obituary: William H. “Wasi” Wasilewski, 84

August 18, 1938  –  December 11, 2022

William H. “Wasi” Wasilewski, age 84, of Reading, formerly of Lynn, died peacefully with his loving wife at his side, on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of Carol (Glowacki) Wasilewski, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late William F. and Genevieve (DeLinski) Wasilewski. He attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Boys High School. After High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served for 4 years. He would then go on and earn his Bachelor and Master Degrees from the University of Scranton and then his Doctorate from SUNY Binghamton. He would then serve as a Post Doctorate Fellow at the University of Edinburgh.

William was an educator for 44 years as an English Literature and English Composition Teacher at many area schools, and in particular Salem State College. He loved reading and was very active, in all sports, at the YMCA. He was a former football coach at Scranton, while earning his master’s degree, and had also had his own weekly cable TV football program. He was also active in the RUACH Program and had hosted RUACH cable TV programs in Lynn and Peabody, as well as the Peabody cable TV program the Joy of Reading. William was a regular contributor and writer for the Lynn Item.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by many friends and extended family members. He was the brother of the late Jean Therrien and her late husband Ernest, and the uncle of the late Steven Therrien.

His Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00AM from the Solimine Funeral Home 426 Broadway (RTE129), Lynn followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in St. Mary’s Church. Visiting hour’s will be held on Tuesday from 3:00PM-7:00PM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
