Nancy M. Ballantyne, a resident of Peabody for 7 years, formerly a resident of Reading for nearly 40 years, passed away suddenly on November 4, 2022. She was 91 years of age. Nancy was born in Salem, Massachusetts on December 12, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Allister R. and Barbara C. (Peters) Ballantyne.
Nancy was a proud graduate of Wheaton College and later completed her Masters in Social Work. She began her early career in Connecticut but spent the bulk of her career working for the Arlington School District as a social worker. She was active in her community, both in Reading and in more recent years, her community at Brooksby Village. She was an avid reader and participated in the book club at the Reading library. Nancy loved her church and volunteered her time in countless roles with them over the years.
Nancy was the devoted mother of Julie B. Temple and her husband Andrew of Unity, NH. Loving grandmother of Alicia Rosa and her husband Jonah of Hopkinton, NH, and Lucas MacLean of Unity, NH. Loving great-grandmother of Olivia Pedemonti. Nancy loved her family and friends more than anything else in this world.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading, from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held at the First Congregational Church 25 Woburn St. Reading on Saturday November 12 at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the West Parish Garden Cemetery, Andover.
