Obituary: James Joseph “Jimmy” Nagle Jr., 66

March 23, 1956 — September 30, 2022

James J. (“Jimmy”) Nagle, 66, of Reading, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30th, with his loving family by his side. 

Born on Friday, March 23, 1956, in Arlington, Jimmy is a son of the late James J. Nagle and Patricia M. (Bailey) Nagle. Jimmy is a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, and friend who will be truly missed.

Jimmy was raised in Cambridge until the age of 13 and then moved to Woburn. Jimmy graduated from Woburn High School and then made his career as a mechanic. Jimmy and Marilyn made their family home in Reading.

Growing up, Jimmy and his family spent their summers at Hampton Beach, where many wonderful family memories were made.  

Jimmy was a top-notch mechanic and had a love for cars. He enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox games, as well as going out for a good breakfast with family or friends.

Jimmy was full of life with a quick sense of humor and a great smile. Jimmy loved his family above all and cherished the times at family gatherings and holidays. He was quick to make new friends wherever he went and was happy to lend a hand to those in need. Jimmy had a big heart and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jimmy is the beloved husband of Marilyn A. (Miller) Nagle. He is the devoted father of Cheryl Benoit, Michael Benoit and his wife Mikaela, and the late Melinda Benoit. The cherished grandfather of James Benoit and his fiancé Ashley Sullivan and Caleb Benoit, Jimmy is the doting great grandfather of Kennedy Benoit and the dear brother of Kenny Nagle, Cheryl Johnson and her husband Larry, Patti Reed – Magee and her husband Bobby, Kathy Nagle and the late Michael Nagle. Jimmy is also a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden Street, READING Wednesday, October 5 at 10 am, followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Jimmy’s Eternal Life in Saint Agnes Church, 186 Woburn Street Reading at 11 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Jimmy’s Family on Tuesday, October 4th from 4-7 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
