Jean E. (Ellis) Jones of Reading passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 14, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Born on Saturday, January 30, 1943, in Reading, Jean is the loving daughter of the late Walter Ellis and Gertrude (Muse) Ellis. Jean is a warm, gentle and kind daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Jean was the most caring and giving person in the world. She was a stay-at-home mom who was always cleaning her house and taking care of her husband and three children (who were not easy). There were dance classes, baseball games, football games, basketball games, and practices. She never missed any of them. She would take her mother shopping almost every day, sometimes to multiple stores, to get the best deal for the day.
As we (the kids) got older, there always seemed to be someone else who needed help. From a neighbor who needed a babysitter to friends that needed a place to stay. She never said no or turned anyone away. She touched the lives of so many people for so many years.
She was an amazing grandmother, and I don’t know how any of us would have survived without her tireless help. All the things she did for her kids, she did for her grandchildren.
She never liked being taken care of, it was always her job to take care of others, and she was the best.
Jean is the beloved wife of Albert Jones. She is the devoted mother of Pamela Harrison and her husband Ed, Scott Jones and his wife Caryn, and Jamie Jones and his wife Nicole. The cherished grandmother of Christopher Tucker and his wife Maggie, Sophie Jones and Rebecca Harrison, Jean is the dear sister of Richard, William, Lawrence, Stephen and David Ellis, Ruthann Sloane, Debbie Ellis, and the late David Meuse. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Jean’s Family on Wednesday, August 17 from 4-7pm in the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden Street READING. Parking attendants and elevator are available.
