Born in Boston, she is the loving daughter of the late John and Katherine (Doyle) Peyton.

Madeline grew up in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of English Latin High School. She attended and graduated from Teacher’s College, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She married John in 1954, moved to Dedham and settled in Norwood to raise their family. In 1985 John and Madeline moved to The Greens of North Reading, where she had been living for the past 37 years. Over the years, Madeline taught in Norwood, Manchester by the Sea and Lynnfield, until her retirement from the Weatherbee Elementary School in Lawrence.

Madeline and John enjoyed traveling to Aruba, Ireland, California, Marco Island, and their favorite, The Balsams Resort. They found comfort and peace at Grace Chapel in Lexington, where they grew not only spiritually, but became involved with the loving church community. In her later years, Madeline became an avid Boston sports fan, following the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. Madeline enjoyed playing tennis, reading, knitting, crossword puzzles and most recently Wordle, watching Jeopardy as well as entertaining family on the piano, with family favorites like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

A source of bright light, fun and laughter, Madeline was known for her fiery red hair and her quick wit. She made conversation and friends wherever she went and knew everyone by name. Her Irish roots and humor made her fun and loving to be around. Madeline’s greatest joy came from her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, always staying current on everyone’s hobby or favorite sport. She will be deeply missed by her family and countless friends.
