When I go and vote on Tuesday, I will try my best to make an intelligent decision. I’m not going to care about whose list you are on, your political party affiliation or what group you belong to. I will only have a couple of concerns.
I hope the person running for office has only one intention, and that intention would be to help continue to make Reading a nice place to live. Just as important, will be someone willing to work with our new Town Manager, other Select Board members and all the various other town employees and volunteers he or she will work with. I don’t care if you have differing opinions from other people. If we all agreed on something, nothing would ever change. I do expect anyone representing me and the Town of Reading to show respect at all times. It’s not easy to put yourself out there to run for one of these town positions. It’s a major time commitment, and a test of your patience. No matter what you do, not everyone will like you or agree with you, but it is important to show respect to people at all times. I, for one, am tired of hearing disrespectful comments!
This is an important election, no question about it! You have two seats on the Select Board, new Town Meeting seats, RMLD, and the Library. Take the time to listen to the candidates, read their websites, talk with your Reading friends who share your values and then VOTE!
