Alan Foulds is a local historian who has written several historically related articles in addition to his book, “Boston’s Ballparks &  Arenas.” He is a major contributor to the writing of “At Wood End.” Mr. Foulds is also Reading’s Town Moderator.

Pittsburg, NH was caught in a power struggle between the fledgling United States and the British colony in Canada. Each side claimed the village and tried to tax them. The town solved the problem, at least temporarily, by declaring independence from both.
