Obituary: Charles G. Veres

October 26, 1932 – March 18, 2020

Charles G. Veres, a resident of Reading for four years, formerly of Saugus and Lynn, passed away at his home on March 18, 2020. He was 87 years of age. 

Charles was born in Vresthena, Sparta, Greece on October 26, 1932, the son of George and Efrosine (Maimonis) Veres. While in Greece, Charles served in Hellenic Air Force. Charles was employed as a painter and also worked in auto body shops in the area. He enjoyed gardening, walks, vacationing in Greece, and spending summers in Cape Cod but spending time with his family was first and foremost in his life. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving family man and he loved his grandchildren. 

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Maria (Toumboulas) Veres. He was the devoted father of Effie Veres of Lynnfield, Paula (Veres) Seremetis, and her husband John of Burlington and Georgia (Veres) Chute and her husband Michael of Reading. He was the loving grandfather of Elena and Dimitri Seremetis and William Chute. Cherished brother of Peter Veres and his wife Victoria of Newport Richey, FL, and the late John Veres and his wife Anna Veres of Salem. Loving uncle of Effie J. and Maria J. Veres. 

Charles’s Funeral services were private for the immediate family only due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. 

Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles’s memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Division of Development 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6 Brookline, MA 02445-9924 www.dana-farber.org
